Assistant Public Defender - Mountain Judicial Circuit

Salary: $50,000 per year

Job Description and Requirements:

Assistant Public Defender I

The Mountain Judicial Circuit will have an opening for an Assistant Public Defender I position beginning in March 2017. Duties include representation of indigent defendants in Superior Court in the Mountain Judicial Circuit. Applicants must be members in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia and be admitted to practice in all of the Courts of the State of Georgia. Candidates should be able to prepare for and present the defense of defendants in trials, motions hearings, and entry of pleas in felony cases in Superior Courts and appeals to the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Candidates will be responsible for legal research, preparation of pleadings and motions, preparation of court orders, extensive contact with clients in the office and at the jails. A demonstrated interest in criminal law and the representation of indigents is preferred. Deadline for submission is February 21, 2017 or until the position is filled.
